The general trend showed a RDS production increase from about 110,000 tons/annum to about 190,000 tons/annum over the 8 year period for an annual average increase of about 10,000 tons/annum.

Over the study period there was a notable increase in the proportion of exports shipped as value-added gums rather than as raw seaweed
